Bluebell

They do not defy the wood
but bow in allegiance
and float trunks in misty banks of foam.
Waves of pale purple tinged blue
that illuminate the grove.
A translucent petal tube
that droops despondent.
Hyacinthoides non-scripta in mourning woad
sad because
too many hands have stripped the bell-woods bare.
But there were times when the bluebell
eagerly spread in an opal slade.
